1. Contact a Faculty Liaison Fellow
Begin by submitting an interest form or emailing our Faculty Liaison Fellows. They will schedule a brief consultation to understand your goals, timeline, and technical needs.
  2. Connect with the Right Faculty
The Fellow will introduce you to faculty with expertise aligned to your project. Early discussions focus on defining technical objectives and assessing feasibility.
  3. Develop Scope of Work & Budget
Once aligned, the faculty team drafts a proposed scope of work and budget.
At this stage, the Office of Applied Research and Grants may request internal documents such as a data sheet, conflict-of-interest disclosures, and compliance information.
  4. Proposal Routing (If Applicable)
If your company requires a formal proposal, MSOE manages review and submission through its Office of Applied Research and Grants.
  5. Agreement Negotiation & Project Launch
After the scope and budget are finalized, the Office of Applied Research and Grants negotiates the research agreement, including IP, confidentiality, publication, and payment terms. Once executed, the project moves into implementation with regular communication between faculty and the company.
