ROAR+ Online Orientation
Orientation is required for all incoming students, and MSOE strongly encourages in-person attendance of ROAR. However, we understand that some students may not be able to attend in person. ROAR+ ensures you can still connect with MSOE and begin your transition with confidence. The online experience introduces you to MSOE-wide resources, campus technology, and student life—so you feel informed, supported, and ready for what’s next.
Step 1: Request ROAR+
Students who may request ROAR+:
- Incoming First Year Students who live out-of-state (excluding students from surrounding states: MN, IA, IL, MI)
- Incoming Transfer Students
- Incoming International students
- Other approved circumstances as determined by ROAR staff
To request ROAR+, email roar@msoe.edu.
Step 2: Complete your Admitted Student Next Steps
- Upload your Raider ID Card Photo
- Complete ALEKS – Math Assessment for course placement
- Apply for housing through your Admitted Student Portal
- Submit your final transcripts

Step 3: Complete ROAR+
ROAR+ will provide information about university-wide and program-specific policies, services, and resources. Hosted in Canvas, MSOE’s learning management system, it will be helpful to review and reference as you continue to navigate your transition to MSOE.
Mid- July, you will receive your invitation to access ROAR+ via Canvas through your MSOE email.
To review all of the information will take approximately 60–90 minutes. You may finish it in one sitting or at your own pace. It is helpful to review the content prior to the first day of classes.
