Fall Move-In: New Students

• Thursday, Aug. 27 (8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

Step 1: Know Your Hall, Your Room Number and Your Assigned Move-In Time.

Make sure you know which residence hall and room you are in. You can find your housing placement information on your my.msoe.edu starting July 17.

Step 2: Check In!

For Viets and Mellowes: 

• Before entering your room, you must check in and receive your room key.  There will be a check-in table located at the main front entrance of Viets Tower (1121 N Milwaukee Street).  You must stop at the table to check in before proceeding inside to receive your key from the front desk. 

For MLH:

• Before entering your room, you must check in and receive your room key.  There will be a check-in table located at the main front entrance of MLH (324 E Juneau Avenue).  You must stop at the table to check in before proceeding inside to receive your key from the front desk. 

Step 3: Unload!

For Viets and Mellowes:

• The designated unloading zone is along the side entrance doors of Viets Tower on the West Side of Milwaukee Street. There will be a 15-minute time limit to pull up and unload all items from your vehicle (unload directly into a moving cart or onto the curb). 
• There will be staff actively monitoring this area, or you can leave a member of your party to watch over the items while the driver moves to a parking lot (Water Street or State Street) for long-term parking.
• There will be a limited number of rolling moving carts available, but we ask that you bring a dolly or other moving cart if you have access to one as we have a limited number available for shared use.  
• Once students have received their room key, you can then start bringing in any items that you have unloaded from your vehicles and get your room set up.  Please use the side doors to bring in your belongings.  The front entrance doors are reserved for check-in and key pick up only. 

For MLH:

Fall Move-In: Returning Students

FAQ: 

1. Can I move in early?  Apologies, but the residence halls (Viets, Mellowes, MLH) CANNOT accommodate any early move-in requests.  Please do not expect to receive permission to arrive early.  
2. Can I cancel my meal plan?  We have a two-year residency requirement that means not only living on campus, but also being enrolled in the unlimited meal plan.  Preference for something different will not result in an exemption.  We hold firm to the two year requirement and only consider approving an exemption if there is a documented medically-related set of dietary restrictions that our Dining staff feels they cannot accommodate with their services.  Most dietary needs can be accommodated within our facilities.

We are excited to welcome you back to MSOE and want to make move-in day as smooth as possible for everyone. Simply follow the steps listed below, and moving in can be as easy as 1-2-3! If you have any questions about move-in, housing, or the meal plan, please contact Living at MSOE.

Returning Resident Move-In Schedule:

• Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026: Between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

If you have a conflict with the above dates:

• Please contact Living at MSOE if you live in VT, MLH, or Mellowes.
• Please contact Apartments at MSOE if you live in Grohmann Tower.
