What We Do

We perform many types of tests and analyses:

  • Burst tests
  • Impulse/fatigue tests
  • Performance tests
  • Environmental evaluations
  • Troubleshooting & failure analysis
  • Component manufacturing contamination

Advanced Projects

  • Component design and optimization using solid free-form fabrication
  • Computational fluid dynamics
  • Finite element analysis
  • Hydraulic pump and motor efficiency
  • Modeling and simulation of electrohydraulic systems
  • Noise and leakage control
  • Water jet research
  • New product research and design analysis
  • System design, construction and installation

Laboratory Facilities

We have specialized equipment for evaluating pumps, valves, motors, cylinders, tubes, filters, and winches in accordance with appropriate NFPA, ANSI, SAE, ISO and MIL standards. We can also build custom test stands and equipment for specialized machinery.

On Campus Facility

Our on-campus FPI laboratory occupies 2,400 square feet and features eight test cells with the following capabilities:

  • Test Cell 1: 150 HP, 65 gpm, 5,000 psi
  • Test Cell 2: 450 HP, 120 gpm, 6,500 psi
  • Test Cell 3: 200 HP, 65 gpm, 5,500 psi
  • Test Cell 4: 100 HP, 13.5 gpm, 15,000 psi
  • Test Cell 5 and 6: 50 HP, 8 gpm, 10,000 psi
  • Test Cell 6: 200 HP hydraulic motion testing
  • 70,000 psi burst pressure
  • 1,000 psi collapse chamber

Chase Avenue Facility

Our off campus laboratory facility, located in the Chase Commerce Center on South Chase Avenue in Milwaukee, is a reconfigurable 12,000 square foot workspace with drive-in access, a high-bay ceiling and major hydraulic power capabilities.

Our typical projects are estimated on a time and material basis. Written proposals include work scope, cost estimates, scheduling, and confidentiality agreements.
